What’s the main thing to avoid if you want to enjoy your summer holiday? Well, losing your luggage or passport, probably, and falling down a well wouldn’t exactly enhance the trip – but getting burnt would be pretty high on the list.
And we’re not just talking about sunburn, although that’s a potential holiday ruiner. Apart from the unpleasant sensation and the unattractive redness, it can leave you lying as still as possible in a bath full of moisturiser while your companions are off having fun. But you can also be burnt by unexpectedly high bills from using your phone when abroad. We’re here to help with both.
Unlike other major networks, we don’t charge extra for EU roaming, up to 25GB. When you’re travelling in our Europe Zone, your data, minutes and text allowances will work just like they do at home – so you won’t get any nasty surprises on your next monthly bill. As for the sunburn, we’ve got an innovative solution for that…
We all know the way to prevent burning is sunscreen. And most of us apply it before heading out for a day at the beach or heading down to the pool. The tricky part is reapplying, which you need to do frequently to get the best effect, according to experts.
Research by O2 and backed by the British Skin Foundation reveals over half (56%) of Brits check their phones three times or more during peak sun hours (11am - 3pm), yet one in five (20%) reapply sunscreen with the same frequency.
The survey also indicated that more than a quarter of British people (27%) apply cream only once or twice a day when abroad.
This isn’t just any old accessory – it’s a high-tech way of tracking when it’s time to rub in more sunscreen. Developed in collaboration with Researcher and Creative Technologist, Marc Teyssier, it’s this summer’s hot new phone accessory.
The Skincase, has been skilfully crafted by Teyssier using synthetic skin, enabling it to dramatically change colour and ‘burn’ when exposed to UV rays, mirroring the damaging effects of the sun on human skin.
It’s a useful reminder to put on some more cream and get on with the important business of enjoying your holiday. Pretty clever, eh?
And we’re giving away one of these little beauties to one lucky person, so scroll down to find out how to enter.
We’ve got your back this summer in more ways than one. If you want a little more help, have a look at this useful map of Europe, which shows where the sun is strongest and hence where you need to apply sunscreen more often.
For your chance to win a sun-activated phone case that reminds you to reapply sunscreen, just answer the following question…
What percentage of British people say they only apply sunscreen once or twice daily when abroad, according to a YouGov survey?
A. 7%
B. 17%
C. 27%
