O2 Switch Up: Get a new phone after 90 days

O2 Switch Up gives you the flexibility to swap your phone after 90 days, without having to pay off your contract

Don’t like fighting your way through crowded aisles at the supermarket? Go late in the evening when it’s less busy. Got some banking to do but no time to get to your local branch? Stay on the sofa and do it online. Modern life is all about flexibility and doing the things you want to do, when you want to do them.

One thing you might want to do, for example, is switch your phone for a model that suits you better – without waiting months till the end of your contract. Well, we can help with that. With O2 Switch Up, you can swap your current phone for any of the latest and greatest phones, or one of our Like New ones, after 90 days if you like. It doesn’t matter how long you’ve got left on your current contract – we’ll pay it off for you and start up a new one.

It’s easy to do, it gives you the choice of a wide range of phones, and it reduces the impact on the planet too because it helps keep used phones in circulation. Not bad, eh? O2 Switch Up is available to all customers on a Plus Plan or Ultimate Plan at no extra cost, and even if that’s not you, you can add it to your plan as a Bolt On.

Here’s what you need to know about it and more on how you can help us do our bit for the planet. 

How it works

Seen a phone you like and want to get it ASAP? As long as you’re more than 90 days into your contract, you can pop into an O2 store and switch it on the spot – or if you prefer to do it at home or wherever you are (more of that flexibility we mentioned), you can log in to My O2 or call 202 to arrange a switch by post. We’ll replace it with the new or Like New phone you want, and all we ask is that it’s in good condition – no, this isn’t a cunning way to get rid of a smashed-up phone.

Nothing to pay up front

There are no upfront costs and you won’t have to pay off any outstanding costs on your current contract – we’ll settle that for you. Just return your phone to us in good condition so we can refurbish it and resell it as one of our Like New phones. We’ll set you up with a fresh plan for your new phone and tariff. 

Plans that flex around you

The beauty of O2 Switch Up is you get to try using different phones to see which one is best for you, without being tied into a long-term contract that costs you money if you want to change. If you want to, you can swap after just 90 days, and you can change your plan too so that you never pay more than you need to. You just need to get a plan that includes O2 Switch Up (or add it as a Bolt On). 

Doing our bit for the planet

If you’re hesitant to get rid of a phone too quickly because you’re concerned it might go straight to landfill, don’t worry. If it’s in good nick (the odd bit of wear and tear is OK), we’ll take it off your hands, wipe all your data and refurbish it. That way, we can send it to someone else to enjoy as one of our Like New phones. It’s one of the many ways we’re helping tackle e-waste and reducing our impact on the planet.
