Using an original iPhone

If you've received an original 2G iPhone or an iPhone 3G second-hand without a connection you have a number of options to use it.

Already on an O2 Pay Monthly 18 month tariff

If you're on an existing O2 18-month minimum term contract, you can just transfer onto a Pay Monthly tariff for iPhone*. The end date of your contract will stay the same. Once their tariff has been transferred, you just need to connect to iTunes to activate the iPhone.

Transfer to an iPhone tariff.

Already an O2 business customer

If you're an O2 business customer, you'll need to move onto a current business tariff with an iPhone Bolt On and you can keep your existing contract term*. To arrange this you'll need to contact Business Customer Services. Once your tariff has been transferred, you just need to connect to iTunes to activate the iPhone.

Already an O2 Pay & Go customer

If you're an O2 Pay & Go customer you can use your current O2 Pay & Go SIM card with the original 2G iPhone. To make the most of the iPhone features, you can add the O2 Web and Wi-Fi Bolt On for £10 a month giving you unlimited browsing and Wi-Fi access**. To add the Bolt On you'll need to either call 2425 free or text WWW to 21300 free.

Once you've got your iPhone you'll need to activate it and update your iPhone to the latest software version. Find out how.

Alternatively....

If you're not already with O2 or aren't eligible for the above options, you can use the iPhone on a Pay & Go basis. You just need to get a Pay & Go iPhone SIM card from any O2 store. The iPhone SIM card is set to the Favourite Place tariff, so gives you unlimited calls to any UK landline or O2 mobile from your chosen postcode when you top-up £30 or more a month. If you don't like the sound of this tariff, you'll be able to switch to one of our other Pay & Go tariffs. Find out how.
