O2 Satellite - Terms and Conditions

Mobile

(Last updated on 26th February 2026)

General

1. Unless the O2 Satellite Bolt On is sold and charged as part of a package of services (for example, as an inclusive part of certain Plans), it is an Optional Add-on Service, as defined in our standard terms and conditions for O2 Pay Monthly Mobile services.

2. The O2 Pay Monthly Mobile Agreement, available here, shall apply to the O2 Satellite Bolt On. In addition to the Pay Monthly Mobile Agreement, these Terms and Conditions will form part of your O2 customer contract once an eligible order for the O2 Satellite Bolt On has been accepted by us.

3. References to ‘device’ or ‘devices’ in these Terms and Conditions means handset devices only.

4. See further below for important information about the O2 Satellite service.

Purchase & Eligibility

5. O2 Satellite is available to new and upgrading O2 customers who purchase a pay monthly Classic Plan, Plus Plan or Ultimate Plan with an eligible device through direct O2 sales channels. You can find out more information about all currently eligible devices here.

6. It is currently available to eligible customers as an Optional Add-on Service, which is added to an eligible Plan and charged for a monthly subscription fee (as advertised at the time of purchase). This recurring monthly charge will appear separately on your O2 bill.

7. All Classic Plans, Plus Plans and Ultimate Plans are subject to status, credit checks and payment by direct debit as well as being subject to availability.

8. You can also buy the O2 Satellite Bolt On at any time via one of our available channels.

9. You will need to self-certify that your device is eligible to access O2 Satellite services, whether via our digital sales journey or when you go to one of our stores or call in. If you incorrectly self-certify an ineligible device, you will be ineligible for O2 Satellite services and we reserve the right to restrict, suspend or remove your access, as required. So, please ensure you self-certify correctly as we will not be responsible for such errors. As mentioned above, you can find out more information about all currently eligible devices here.

10. Similarly, if you change your device during your current contract or upgrade to one that is not compatible, you will become ineligible and we reserve the right to restrict, suspend or remove your access to O2 Satellite services, as required.

Term & cancellation

11. The O2 Satellite Bolt On is sold as a 30-day rolling contract.

12. If cancelled during the first 14 days from purchase or upgrade as part of your ‘cooling off’ rights, the O2 Satellite Bolt On will be removed with immediate effect and you will be refunded in full for it.

13. Otherwise, after an initial period of 30 days has passed, you can cancel it and remove it from your existing plan at any point in time. This will be processed immediately.

14. If you cancel the Bolt On in line with clause 13 and this occurs mid-month, you will be refunded a pro-rata amount for the remaining period of the relevant month.

Important information

15. O2 Satellite sits alongside our main network and aims to provide additional coverage in areas that have traditionally had minimal or no signal. Once connected to the O2 Satellite network, you will no longer be connected to the main network.

16. Your phone will automatically reconnect to the main network once you leave the area with O2 Satellite signal and re-enter an area covered by our main network.

17. O2 Satellite coverage may vary and will not be available in all areas of the UK. We also cannot guarantee fault-free, continuous coverage as network connection will vary depending on a range of factors including weather, location, whether you’re inside or outside, positions of satellites etc.

18. O2 Satellite should NOT be relied on to contact emergency services and we strongly recommend caution when in O2 Satellite-only areas.

19. Over time, O2 Satellite coverage will expand. You can keep track of current coverage areas by viewing our coverage map here.

20. Not all apps will be supported, but enhancements can be expected over time as we develop the service and changes in technology help us to evolve its capabilities. You can keep track of supported apps here.

21. Traditional voice calling (i.e. via the main network, rather than using data) is not currently supported.

Other applicable terms of use

22. If you transfer an existing Plan to another of the same type (e.g. a Plus Plan transferred to another Plus Plan), then the O2 Satellite Bolt On will remain active.

23. If you transfer an existing Plan to another of a different type (e.g. a Classic Plan to a Plus Plan), then the O2 Satellite Bolt On will be removed. Don’t worry though, you will be able to re-add it to your new plan as part of your upgrade or downgrade following your Plan transfer in the same manner described above.

24. The O2 Satellite Bolt On is for your personal non-commercial use. If, in our reasonable opinion, you're using it for commercial purposes or contrary to your terms of service, we reserve the right to restrict, suspend or remove your access to O2 Satellite services.

25. O2 does not guarantee that the O2 Satellite Bolt On will always be made available and reserves the right to cancel it at any time.

26. In addition to these Terms and Condition, please refer to the Pay Monthly Services Agreement for more details on our rights to vary and (if applicable) your rights to cancel.

27. We reserve the right to cancel, restrict or suspend your use of the O2 Satellite Bolt On, if you are, in our reasonable opinion, in breach of your terms of service.
