About Pay As You Go

A Pay As You Go SIM is the perfect way to get a SIM without being tied down to a contract. Instead of paying a fixed monthly fee, you top up your SIM card with credit, which you can then use for calls, texts, and data. You have the flexibility to only pay for what you use, without any long-term commitment.

There are two types of O2 contract-free SIM only offers: Big Bundles and Rolling Plans.

Big Bundles

Our Big Bundles SIM only deals mean you can choose your monthly data allowance. You top up your sim card, and we exchange your credit for your monthly calls, texts and data allowance. Read more about our Big Bundles.

Rolling Plan

Rolling plans are contract-free SIM only packages – that don’t require top ups. They include an allowance for minutes, texts, and data. Extra options include minutes for international calls from the UK to 42 countries. 
With a Rolling plan, you set up paying for your monthly allowance using your debit or credit card. Your monthly payment will be taken automatically, and your allowance will refresh. You can carry over up to 100% unused allowance, so you never lose out. You're in control and are free to change or stop your Rolling plan at any time. Read more about our Rolling Plans.

No. Our Rolling plans are contract-free, and there's no credit check. You can choose to stop your Rolling plan at any time. If you do, you'll keep any allowances you've paid for. There's no minimum period to commit to.

Right here at O2. Purchasing a SIM Free phone allows you to get the new phone you want without being tied down to a contract. You can keep your old SIM, or shop for a Pay As You Go one.

Yes, you can. It's super easy to transfer your old phone number to your new SIM. All you'll need is a porting authorisation code (PAC). Find out more about keeping your number.

If you’re travelling within selected destinations in Europe, your allowances and charges will work just like they do in the UK. For more info, check out our helpful guide on using your Pay As You Go SIM abroad.

Get access to all the best bits of O2, like Priority, but with the added benefit of full flexibility. There are no contracts, no credit checks, and the sim is free to order. Plus, you can claim £10 free O2 credit on all Big Bundles and a further £5 when you sign up to My O2.

Topping up your Pay As You Go SIM is simple, and you have a few options on how to do it.

My O2 app

Top up your data by downloading the My O2 app, or sign in.

Call

Dial 4444 from your mobile to top up your allowance.

Green top-up logo

Buy a voucher or use a cash machine anywhere you see the green top-up logo.

There are a few easy ways you can top up or check your balance.

My O2 app
Download the My O2 app to monitor your usage. You can also do this online.

Call or text
To check your balance, simply dial 4444 from your mobile, choose option 2, and 2 again. You can also text BALANCE free to 20202.

Data rollover is available on £10 and higher Big Bundles and Rolling plans. You can roll over up to 100% of your monthly data allowance. For example, if your monthly allowance is 7GB, you can roll over a maximum of 7GB into the next month.

You need to keep the same Bundle or plan and renew on the same date each month, or your data will expire.

Off on holiday and worried about your airtime? No problem. We cover data roaming in Europe as part of our Pay As You Go SIM tariffs. Yes, 5G is now available on our Pay As You Go plans.

If you order your free SIM by 12pm, you'll get it the next working day (subject to location and Royal Mail delays). But please allow three working days. If it still hasn't arrived, you can chat to one of our agents.
