I have problems with the speed of the internet connection being lower than expected on my O2 WiFi hub 1
If the speed of the internet connection is lower than expected, there may be several causes of the problem.
Close the peer-to-peer program.
- Press the power switch to turn off your hub.
- Disconnect the power supply from the power supply port. Wait for at least 10 seconds.
- Connect the power supply to the power supply port.

Contact customer services for information on planned or unforeseen events, such as maintenance or outages, which may affect the quality of the internet line.
- Do not place your hub in drawers and cupboards.
- Do not place your hub close to walls and electronic equipment such as baby monitors and wireless phones which may interrupt the WiFi signal.
- Place your hub centrally in your home or near the place where the WiFi network is used the most.
- Place your hub as high up as possible.
- Place your hub in an area with no obstacles which could block the WiFi signal. When you've tried optimising the WiFi signal, you can test the coverage and speed of your wireless internet connection to see if it has improved.
1. Test the coverage and speed of your wireless internet connection
Connect your phone to your hub’s WiFi network and go to the room where you would like to check the WiFi coverage.

- Open an internet browser on your phone and go to samknows.com/realspeed/ to test the speed of your WiFi network's internet connection. You can also download the SamKnows Internet Performance app from your phone’s app store and run the test using it. Make sure that you're not downloading or uploading large files and that no games or streaming are running on the network while you're testing your WiFi connection.
- Please wait while the speed is tested and the result is displayed. If you experience a weak signal, reduced speed and high latency in the room where you're doing the test, this could be a sign that you need to expand your WiFi network with a WiFi extender. It is recommended that you do the same test in different rooms and compare the results to get a complete overview of areas with poor WiFi coverage. If you don't know if you need a WiFi extender, please contact technical support by calling 202 from an O2 SIM or call 0344 809 0202 from any other phone line.
Try establishing a connection to your hub using a network cable instead of a wireless connection.
1. Test the speed of your wired internet connection
Connect an Ethernet cable to your computer and to the 10Gbps Ethernet port.
Make sure that your computer is not downloading or uploading large files and that no games or streaming are running on the computer while you are testing the speed. Also, make sure your computer is not connected to the internet via VPN.
