We're closing our Blackberry Internet Service

What’s happening?

On 31 January 2021 we’re closing down our Blackberry Internet Service, which includes BBM, internet browsing, email and access to Blackberry app world. This means you won’t be able to use data on your Blackberry from this date.

What your options are

If you want to continue using your Blackberry for data, you’ll need to make changes to the internet settings on your device. You’ll then need to use the internet browser to access your email rather than the messaging app. Details on how to change your internet settings are in the FAQs below.

If you’ve already got another smartphone, you can transfer your sim to this smartphone at any time before 31 January 2021.

How do I change the internet settings on my Blackberry?

Go to the Home screen and select Options > Device > Advanced System Settings > TCP/IP.  Change the APN to ‘mobile.o2.co.uk’. Change the username to ‘o2web’. Change the password to ‘password’. Press the Menu key and select Save.

Will I need a new sim when I change my device?

It’s likely that if you choose a more recent smartphone that you’ll also need a new sim. If you do, just call us for free on 202.
