Do I have to pair my watch with a phone, or will it work without doing so?
In order to set up and install the eSIM on your 4G connected Samsung Watch, you must pair it with a compatible Samsung phone.

If the watch is not paired to a compatible Samsung phone then you will not be able to make calls or receive calls or texts via the watch.

Do I need to insert a sim?
No. 4G connected Samsung Watches use an eSIM, which is built-in to the device. To download the eSIM connection on to your watch:

  • Download the Galaxy Wearable app on your compatible Samsung phone
  • Scan the QR code in the eSIM pack that was provided when you bought your watch.

How do I charge my Samsung Watch?
Using the charger provided in the box, connect it to a power source and then place the charger onto the back of the watch. A magnet will attach to the charger and keep it in place.

How do I turn my Samsung Watch on for the first time?

How do I pair my Samsung Watch with my compatible Samsung phone?
On your Samsung phone, make sure Bluetooth is on by going to Settings, Connections, and then Turn On Bluetooth.

If you don’t already have it, download the Galaxy Wearable app from the Play Store on your phone.

Once downloaded, open the app.

With your watch turned on and placed next to your phone, follow the on-screen instructions on both your phone and watch to set it up.

Your Airtime Plan

How do I activate my Airtime Plan on a 4G connected Samsung Watch?
If you buy your 4G connected Samsung Watch from O2, we’ll set up your Airtime Plan for you and provide you with an eSIM voucher. You can then activate the eSIM when you set up your watch.

If you don’t already have it, download the Galaxy Wearable app from the Play Store on your phone.

Once downloaded, open the app.

With your watch turned on and placed next to your phone, follow the on-screen instructions on both your phone and watch to set it up.

As part of the set-up process, you will reach a step called ‘Mobile service for your watch’. This will allow you to scan the QR Code on your eSIM voucher using your phone’s camera.

Once scanned, the eSIM will be setup on your watch.

Once setup is finished there’s one more setting to check. On your phone, go to Settings, Advanced Features, and switch on ‘Call & text on other devices’.

You can also tap on ‘Call & text on other devices’ where in other areas of your Settings. For example, when you are turning on ‘Use mobile data’ for calls and texts.

Can I buy an Airtime Plan for a 4G connected Samsung Watch that I already own?
Yes. We offer a Pay Monthly sim only plan for 4G connected Samsung Watches which will work as long as you are using a Galaxy Watch Active2 4G or Galaxy Watch3 4G along with a compatible Samsung phone that is also connected to O2.

Can I have more than one 4G connected Samsung Watch paired with my Samsung phone at one time?
Only one 4G connected Samsung Watch with Airtime can be used at any one time with a connected Samsung phone.

If you want to cancel your watch Airtime Plan, call 202 free from your O2 Pay Monthly phone.

How do I reactivate my cellular connection after restoring all content and settings on my watch?
If you reset your watch, you will need to go through the pairing process again. As part of the process the Galaxy Wearable app on your phone will recognise that there is already an active eSIM in the watch and will connect it for you.

When resetting your watch, if you selected to also reset network settings, then this will have removed the eSIM connection from your watch.

In this case, during pairing you will need to scan the QR code from your eSIM voucher again.

The QR code on the eSIM voucher can be used a total of 3 times. After this, you will need a replacement eSIM voucher which you can get from an O2 Store or by calling us on 202 from your O2 Pay Monthly phone.

Does my watch contract expire at the same time as my phone contract?
Unless you bought your phone and watch from O2 at the same time and on the same contact length, it’s unlikely that your contracts will expire at the same time.

Using your 4G connected Samsung Watch

How do I make calls from my 4G connected Samsung Watch?

From here you will have the choice to either bring up the keypad and dial a call, select someone from your contacts, or select from a list of recent calls.

If you want to leave your phone at home and go out with your watch, you need to ensure that your phone is left switched on and connected to the internet (wifi or mobile data). When you leave home, the watch will use its cellular mode.

When calling from the watch in cellular mode, it uses its data connection to communicate with your Samsung phone at home, and the phone makes the call, and then relays it to the watch. The same goes for messages.

Calls and messages initiated from the watch are billed against your phone phone number. These will come out of your minutes and text allowance if included, otherwise they will be billed as normal.

During a call initiated from the watch, both the watch and the phone will use a small amount of data to carry the call.

When the watch is in Bluetooth range with your phone, it’ll use your phone’s monthly allowances for calls, texts and data.

How do I send and receive messages from the 4G connected Samsung Watch?
When a message is received to your Samsung phone, as long as your watch is connected, it will also receive the message.

To view an incoming message, either tap on the notification that appears or, press the menu button on the watch and then select the Messages app.

From there you can scroll through your messages and tap on the one you would like to view.

To reply, scroll to the bottom of the message. You will be able to bring up a keypad, use audio dictation, or select from a set of pre-written responses.

To start a new message from your watch, open the Messages app and then tap on the small blue message icon. From here you can choose your recipient, write the message and send it.

When I make calls from my watch, where are the calls and messages billed?
The 4G connected Samsung Watch only uses a data connection, so you can’t make calls and texts directly from the number associated to the watch.

When calling from the watch, it uses its data connection to communicate with the Samsung phone. The phone makes the call and relays it to the watch. The same goes for messages.

Calls and messages initiated from the watch are billed against your phone phone number. These will come out of your minutes and text allowance if included, otherwise they will be billed as normal.

During a call initiated from the watch, both the watch and the phone will use a small amount of data to carry the call.

If I leave my phone at home but it’s switched off, will my watch still work when I’m out?
If your phone is switched off then the watch will not be able to communicate with it to make and receive calls or send and receive texts.

The watch will however still be able to use its data connection for other things such as streaming music, checking the weather or browsing the Galaxy Store.

You will also be able to use your watch’s other features such as health and fitness related apps.

I have 1GB of data with my 4G connected Samsung Watch Airtime Plan – will it be enough?
The 4G connected Samsung Watch only uses its data connection when the watch is out of Bluetooth range of your phone. When it is in Bluetooth range, the watch will use the data from the phone it is connected to.

During the time your watch is out of range from your phone it will use its data plan. Calling and texting from the watch uses very small amounts of data. For example, a 10-minute call would use around 4MB of data.

If I run out of data can I buy more?
We believe the 1GB of data that comes with your watch Airtime Plan will be enough to see you through the month.

If you do run out though, you can use My O2 via your phone or a browser to buy a data bolt on for your watch number.

Will O2 send me notifications if I use up all my data?
The watch can’t receive SMS messages to its own phone number, so all notifications from O2 will be sent by email.

We’ll send you an email when you have used up 80% of your data allowance, and another if you use up 100% of your allowance.

Does my Samsung phone have to be on an O2 Pay Monthly plan in order to pair a 4G connected Samsung Watch?
The Samsung phone must be on O2, but it doesn’t need to be on a Pay Monthly plan. The phone could be on an O2 Business contract or be O2 Pay as you Go.

Can I connect Bluetooth headphones to my 4G connected Samsung Watch?
Yes, you can connect Bluetooth audio accessories directly to your 4G connected Samsung Watch.

On the watch, press the menu button on the side of the watch and then tap on Settings. From the list, select ‘Connections’, then tap on ‘Bluetooth’ to turn it on. Your 4G connected Samsung Watch will use its cellular capability when it’s out of Bluetooth range of your phone (about 10 metres) and it can’t connect to wifi.

When in cellular mode, the watch will use its data connection for things like streaming music, checking the weather and browsing the Galaxy Store.

When calling from the watch, it uses its data connection to communicate with the Samsung phone, and the phone makes the call and relays it to the watch. It is the same for messages.

Calls and messages initiated from the watch are billed against the phone phone number. These will come out of your minutes allowance if included, otherwise they will be billed as normal.

During a call initiated from the watch, both the watch and the phone will use a small amount of data to carry the call.

How will calls made on my 4G connected Samsung Watch appear on my bill?
You’ll see calls and texts from your 4G connected Samsung Watch on your bill for your phone.

If I change my phone to one that is not a compatible Samsung phone, or I cancel my phone contract, what will happen to my watch?

You will be able to use its data connection for things such as streaming music, checking the weather and browsing the Galaxy Store.
