O2 WiFi Automatic Connection

Help and support

Connecting to O2 WiFi automatically

Customers with a compatible device and O2 SIM, can now use our free automatic WiFi service. To be eligible, you need to have bought your phone directly from us, or or be an iPhone customer.

If one of the hotspots is faster than your 3G or 4G connection, we’ll automatically connect you. And you don’t even need to register.

There are 7000 automatic O2 WiFi hotspots across the UK, and you can still manually connect to our other hotspots.

If you don’t want to use this service, you can simply disable your WiFi.

Finding an automatic connection hotspot

We have 7000 automatic connection hotspots across the UK. Rather than specific locations, they’re found in certain restaurants, retailers and even gyms. If the partner has one enabled hotspot, all of their branches will have automatic hotspots. For example, all McDonald’s restaurants have automatic hotspots.

Below is a selection of some of our national partners. To find more near you, take a look at our hotspot locator.

Manually connecting to O2 WiFi hotspots

If a hotspot doesn’t have an automatic connection, you can still connect manually.

To manually connect to an O2 WiFi hotspot, just select the O2 WiFi network, and if you haven’t done so already, follow the simple steps to register.

O2 WiFi for non O2 customers

If you don’t have an O2 SIM, you won’t be able to use O2 WiFi automatic connection. You can still connect to our free O2 WiFi hotspots though. You’ll just need to register the first time you connect.
