125 million calls a day. 150 million text messages. 20 million customers.
It can get busy. But we've got a whole team to make sure things run smoothly.
See how the O2 network is working for you, right now.
Our Awards
We've picked up awards for the way we do things too.
For overall performance
We were awarded the '2010 Best Network Award' by the readers of both Mobile Choice and What Mobile magazines. It's the third year running we've won the Mobile Choice Award. And we’ve also been awarded Know your Mobile’s Network of the Year for 2010.
For signal
uSwitch uses You Gov's independent customer panel to vote on UK mobile networks. Our Pay Monthly customers voted us Best Network Coverage. For Pay & Go we came second. Pipped at the post only by Tesco Mobile, who actually use our network.
For innovation
We upgraded our London network in 2009. It's given our smartphone customers faster upload and download speeds, longer battery life and better coverage. It won us and Nokia Siemans Networks the Global Telecoms Business Innovation Award 2010.
For the environment
From 2006 to 2008 we saved over 47,000 tonnes of CO2. That would fill The O2, eight times over. This helped us become the first mobile company to be awarded the Carbon Trust Standard.
Tried and tested
To see how our network is really doing, we regularly ask independent experts to test it for us. Here's what they found:
- In 16 out of 20 major UK cities tested, we were the fastest to download a web page
- Downloading a web page with us was twice as fast as with Orange. And 13% faster than the slowest operator tested
- Downloading files with us was 35% faster than Orange. 14% faster than Vodafone
- Our average download time was fastest, at 5.2 seconds. And we came first for average download speed too, at 1162kbps.
