Spread far and wide across the UK, Ark Home Healthcare’s army of care workers spend most of their time visiting customers at home and rarely come into any of their regional offices. As a result, many of them were on the road, working alone and feeling cut off from their colleagues. Ark knew they had to do something to reinforce a sense of belonging among their people.
O2 provided Ark around 2,000 smartphones secured by one of the Mobile Device Management solutions O2 offers, and oversaw a smooth migration from their previous provider. As Robin Sidebottom, Managing Director Domiciliary Care Division, put it, “Migration was seamless. We hardly noticed it.” Plus, with O2 Capital Finance providing flexible purchasing and leasing options, Ark was able to scale new equipment and software purchases in line with their current growth over the term of their contract.
O2 provides a means of connecting field-based staff to each other, making them feel part of a wider team, which has helped with staff retention and well-being. The Ark mobile app provides the ability to “raise issues, read comments, post replies, enter competitions – and even view their payslips. We control it centrally so our people know they’ll get an immediate response and the ‘emotion gauge’ lets them rate their day. If they’re not feeling so good then our engagement team will get in touch. Technology has really changed the way that we work.”
