Staff Plans - Our Terms
These terms are effective from 1 October 2020. See previous terms.
Staff Plans & Eligibility
- If you’re an employee of Telefónica UK Limited (“Tef UK”) or are a full time employee of Capita working on the O2 account (subject to passing your 6 months’ probation period) based in the UK, you can choose one or more of the following “Staff Plans”.
- Each staff member can get a maximum of one handset plan, one tablet plan and one Smartwatch (either an Apple Watch or a Samsung Connected Watch) plan under their Staff Plan.
- The Staff Plan offers cannot be used in conjunction with any other discounts or offers (including, without limitation, any money off the upfront cost of the device).
- Handset Plans:
- O2 Refresh: Pay Monthly Handset on O2 Refresh custom plan with an Airtime Plan consisting of unlimited mins & texts, 50 MMS and 60GB data. Your Airtime Plan is free for the duration of your Device Plan; OR
- SIM Only: Pay Monthly rolling 30 day SIM Only airtime tariff consisting of unlimited minutes & texts, 50 MMS and 60GB data for £16 a month (subject to annual RPI adjustments).
- Connected Tablet (including iPads) Plans:
- O2 Refresh: Pay Monthly Connected Tablet or iPad on O2 Refresh custom plans with 60GB data. Your Airtime Plan is free for the duration of your Device Plan.
- Smartwatch Plans:
- O2 Refresh: Pay Monthly Apple Watch on O2 Refresh custom plans with minutes & texts shared from paired iPhone (must be paired with an iPhone 6S or higher that has a Pay Monthly airtime tariff on the O2 network) and unlimited data when not in range of the paired iPhone or WiFi; or
- O2 Refresh: Pay Monthly Samsung Connected Watch on O2 Refresh custom plan using minutes & texts from paired Samsung Smartphone (must be pared with a 2019 Samsung Smartphone or newer (excluding A21s and A10e) that has a Pay Monthly airtime tariff on the O2 network) and 1GB of data when not in range of the paired Samsung Smartphone or WiFi Your Airtime is free for the duration of your Device Plan.
- Please note: You cannot pair the Apple Watch with your business use device.

How to add an O2 Refresh custom plan to your Staff Plan
- 4. You can add an O2 Refresh custom plan to your Staff Plan by:
- Working out how much you want to pay to get the device you want at:
www.o2.co.uk/shop/phones for handsets,
www.o2.co.uk/tablets for tablets; or
www.o2.co.uk/shop/smartwatches for Apple Watch.
For Samsung Connected Watch, please visit an O2 Store.
- Spreading the cost of your Device Plan between 3 to 36 months.
- the 5GB Airtime Plan for your handset;
- the 2GB Airtime Plan for your tablet; and/or
- the unlimited data plan for Apple Watch. If purchasing an Apple Watch, you will need an iPhone 6S or newer on Custom Plans or an O2 Pay Monthly SIM Only plan & an iPhone 6S or newer.
- the 1GB data plan for Samsung Connected Watch. If purchasing a Samsung Connected Watch, you will need a 2019 Samsung Smartphone or newer that is also on O2.
Please note, if you successfully complete the process set out in this clause, you will receive a 60GB data allowance for handsets and tablets, despite having selected the tariff referred to above.
- Once you’ve signed up to O2 Refresh, complete the online staff pay monthly request form found here on the intranet.
- You will receive the Staff Plan for the length of your Device Plan.
- Working out how much you want to pay to get the device you want at:
- Because you’re staff, you’ll get free airtime for the duration of your Device Plan (i.e. between 3 – 36 months depending on how long you decide to spread the cost of your device). Remember, with O2 Refresh custom plans, you can upgrade as often as you want. All you need to do is pay off your Device Plan in full.
What happens after your Device Plan finishes?
- Once your Device Plan ends, the following will happen:
- If you're still a Tef UK employee, you can upgrade to a new O2 Refresh Staff Plan and you won’t have to pay for your Airtime Plan for the duration of the Device Plan of your new contract.
- If you're still a Tef UK employee, and you don't upgrade, you'll be moved to the SIM Only Staff Plan until you upgrade, change tariff or leave O2. This plan currently includes unlimited minutes & texts, 50 MMS and 60GB data for £16 a month (subject to the annual RPI increase).
- If you don't work for Tef UK anymore, and choose to upgrade, you can take out a new contract which will be subject to the terms of our consumer tariffs available at the time.
- If you don’t work for Tef UK anymore, and choose not to upgrade, you will be moved to a Pay Monthly rolling 30 day SIM Only airtime tariff for £16 a month (subject to annual RPI increases) for your device until you choose to upgrade, change tariff or leave O2. This is a 1GB tariff and where this tariff is applied to a handset, you will also receive unlimited minutes & texts.
- We'll let you know when we’ve moved you across to our SIM Only Staff plan (if you still work for us) or the 30 day SIM Only airtime tariff (if you don't work for us anymore).

How to add a PAYM Sim Only tariff to your Staff Plan
- You can add an O2 SIM Only tariff to your Staff Plan by completing the online staff pay monthly request form found here on the intranet. This plan currently includes unlimited minutes & texts, 50 MMS and 60GB data for £16 a month (subject to the annual RPI increase).
- You can stay on our Staff Plan SIM Only tariff until you upgrade, change tariff or leave O2.

The Legal Bit:
- Your Apple Watch Airtime Plan will be free until you upgrade, change tariff or leave O2. This applies whether your Watch Airtime Plan is on an O2 Refresh custom plan connection or on a PAYM SIM-Only connection.
- Your Samsung Connected Watch Airtime Plan will be free until you upgrade, change tariff or leave O2. This applies whether your Watch Airtime Plan is on an O2 Refresh custom plan connection or on a PAYM SIM-Only connection.
- The terms and pricing of our Staff Plan are subject to change at any time. Pricing is correct as of 16 June 2019. Please check the intranet or o2.co.uk/terms for the most up to date version of the terms and pricing.
- Our Staff Plan tariffs are subject to our Pay Monthly terms which can be found at www.o2.co.uk/termsandconditions/mobile.
- Each year our pricing and your Airtime Plan/airtime tariff will be adjusted on your April bill by the RPI rate of inflation announced in the preceding Feb. See o2.co.uk/prices.
- O2 Refresh custom plans: Direct purchases only. Pay cash price for your device or spread the cost over 3 to 36 months. Device cost will be the same whatever you choose. There may be an upfront cost. You need a monthly rolling Airtime Plan as long as you have a Device Plan. Pay off your Device Plan at any time and you can choose to keep your Airtime Plan, upgrade or leave. If your Airtime Plan ends for any reason you will need to pay your Device Plan in full. Devices are subject to availability. 0% APR. Finance subject to status and credit checks. 18+. Direct Debit. Credit provided by Telefónica UK Ltd, SL1 4DX. Telefónica UK is authorised and regulated by the FCA for consumer credit and insurance. Terms apply, see o2.co.uk/terms.
- O2 Sim Only: 30 day sim only tariff purchased direct from O2. Standard calls, texts and data in the UK and when roaming in our Europe Zone. Excludes premium-rate and service numbers. Special and out of bundle numbers chargeable. Unused mins, text, MMS and data allowances must be used within the month and cannot be carried over. Phone not included. 18+. Subject to status, availability and payment by direct debit. Terms and fair usage policy apply, see o2.co.uk/terms.
- Apple Watch: The Apple Watch must be paired with an iPhone 6 or newer with an O2 pay monthly airtime tariff (“Paired iPhone”). If the Paired iPhone airtime tariff is cancelled your Watch Airtime Plan will also be cancelled & you’ll have to repay your Watch Device Plan in full. The Watch Airtime Plan shares mins & texts from Paired iPhone & provides unlimited data when Watch is not within range of Paired iPhone or connected to Wifi. Otherwise the Watch will use the Paired iPhone’s data. The Watch has UK data only. Min 3G required. The Watch can’t roam unless in range of Paired iPhone. Each Watch needs its own Airtime Plan. Max one Watch Airtime Plan per iPhone.
- Samsung Connected Watch: Must pair with Samsung Galaxy smartphone 2019 or newer (excluding A21s and A10e) on an O2 pay monthly airtime tariff (“Airtime Plan”) that supports voice, text message and data services (“Paired Phone”). Each Watch needs its own Airtime Plan. Watch only be connected with one Paired Phone at a time. Watch airtime cannot be used for calls or texts. Watch can only make/receive calls and send/receive texts when connected to a Paired Phone that is switched on, connected to the O2 network and logged into your Samsung account. Calls and texts from Watch shall use Paired Phone’s airtime allowance. Watch will only use data. Watch has UK data only and is not compatible with roaming. Min 3G required.
- Handset Plans:
