What is included in a pay monthly phone contract?
Our Pay Monthly phone contracts include both the handset and airtime. For a monthly fee, you'll get minutes, texts, data, and a phone.

Do I need to pass a credit check for a phone contract?
Yes, you do. Just like applying for other types of credit such as a credit card or loan, you’ll need to pass a credit check before getting a contract with us.
Can I compare phone deals?
Absolutely. You can compare up to four devices at once, simply select the compare button while looking at each device.
Is there an upfront cost?
This depends on the device. You can get a brand new phone with no deposit, but most of our newer devices have a minimum £30 upfront cost.
What happens when my phone contract ends?
For O2 Refresh custom plans starting from 17 December 2021 or after, Airtime and Device Plans separate after 24 months. Within the first 24 months, ending the Airtime Plan requires full Device Plan payment without an Early Termination Charge. After 24 months, options include keeping both plans, cancelling airtime while continuing device payments, or cancelling both and paying off the Device Plan.
For plans before 17 December 2021, Airtime and Device Plans remain linked, requiring full Device Plan payment upon airtime cancellation, without an Early Termination Charge.
Either way, once you have finished paying for the Device Plan part of your contract, you own the device outright.
What is the typical duration of a pay monthly phone contract?
The typical length of a pay monthly phone contracts are usually 12 months, 24 months, or 36 months. At O2, you can customise your plan to make it anywhere from 3 months to up to 36 months.
