Textin' tips for holiday trips
Be safe when on holiday with your m8s with our handy phone tips
Before you go ...
Before you leave put the phone numbers of your mates into the phonebook of your mum or someone you trust.
Set a reminder on your phone to txt home when you arrive safely.
It's worth setting 2 or 3 "txt home" reminders while you are away to help put their minds at rest.
When travelling abroad enable your phone to roam in any foreign country by calling your network provider.
Charge your phone and take your charger and adaptor with you.
Make sure your phone has enough credit for your holiday and maybe leave your card with your mum, or a friend so it can be topped up in an emergency.
Save important info in your phone (i.e. passport number, holiday insurance reference etc).
Photocopy your passport and travel documents and leave a copy at home
Dial *#06# for phone serial number and keep in a safe place.
When you get there ...
Txt home the details of your holiday accommodation.
Check notice board at your destination and store phone numbers of doctor, emergency services, Taxi Company etc in your phone.
Use a pin code to lock your keypad so that strangers can't use it.
If possible leave your cash and valuables in a safety deposit box and only take out what you need for the day.
Make a note of visible landmarks near your accommodation.
Be wary of new 'friends' they may not be what they seem.
Always watch your drinks, even soft drinks can be spiked.
If you are in a group look out for each other
Don't let your guard slip when you are on holiday. Try to be as careful as you would at home.
Don't flash your mobile around others may be tempted
Call 'immobilise' on 08701 123 123 if your phone is stolen.
