- Group Chat is the quick and easy way to hold a meeting. You can chat with up to 39 friends at the same time, on the same call. Participants can join your call from any UK network or landline and from wherever they are in the UK or abroad.
- Why make 39 separate calls when your friends can all join the same call at the same time, making it much more cost-effective.
- Group Chats are easy to set up. It costs nothing to register and a one-off registration process as a Chairperson will give you a lifetime entry code.
- There’s no monthly subscription. You simply pay for your own per minute call charges.
- Group Chat is flexible; there’s no need to pre-book and you can stage a call at just a few moments notice and at any time of day.
Getting started
To register for Group Chat either:
Dial 2244 free from your O2 mobile phone and choose option 4 to speak to an operator or,
Send a text to 2244. The text needs to be in the following format: *mother’s maiden name* or *password of your choice*. You will receive your secure entry code by text.
How to hold a Group Chat
You will need to give the participants the following information:
- Date and start time for your meeting
- Your O2 mobile number (this is what they will use as their entry code)
Dial 323 from your O2 mobile phone (or 07720 323 323 from a landline or other mobile network)

Key in your entry code followed by # and record your name
If participants arrive before you, they will be put on hold listening to music until you join the call.
How to join a Group Chat
- Dial 323 from your O2 mobile phone (or 07720 323 323 from a landline or other mobile network)
- Key in the Chairperson's mobile number as your entry code, followed by # and record your name
The Group Chat will only start once the Chairperson has dialled in. If you arrive before then you will listen to music until they join.
Pricing
- Calls are charged at 15p per minute 24 hours a day.
- This rate is applicable to all O2 customers. If you are not an O2 customer, calls to 07720 323 323 will be charged as per your tariff for calls to a mobile phone number.
- Each caller pays for their own call charges and you pay nothing extra as Chairperson to host the call.
All prices are O2 RRP including VAT.
Controls that everyone can use
Simply use your mobile phone keypad to access the following controls.

| * 0 | Operator Assistance. Call for help at any time and an operator will offer assistance at no additional charge |
| * 4 | Adjust line volume allows you to equalise the volume of your phone line |
| * 6 | Mute/unmute your phone line This option will silence your line, but you will still be able to hear everyone else. This is useful if you are in a noisy environment such as on a train. |
