We're sorry to tell you we’re shutting down your O2 email account – unless you've got O2 Broadband and are moving over to Sky.
We used to give all our customers a free o2.co.uk email account. Some people used it, but lots didn’t – preferring to use other email services like Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo!, instead. So, from 1 November 2013, all o2.co.uk email accounts will be closed.
After 1 November, you'll no longer be able to access your emails and contacts. So you'll need to transfer these to another email account before then.
But don't worry – it's safe, quick and easy to transfer across. And our O2 Gurus are here to show you how.
O2 Gurus are your friendly experts for free tech help and inspiration. Watch our O2 Guru TV videos for a step by step guide to help transfer your emails and contacts. For more help and inspiration with your tech, talk to us in store, online and by phone
In the past, O2 email has been provided free of charge to all of our customers. Over time we have seen that the majority of our customers prefer to use freely available services from other email providers like Gmail, Hotmail and Yahoo. As a result we've decided to withdraw this service for all mobile customers.
Mobile customers will no longer have access from 1 November 2013. After this date you'll no longer have access to your email account, including saved emails and contacts.
You'll need to transfer your contacts and any emails you want to save to another email account before 1 November when we switch off the service. After this date, you won't have access to your account. We've created some handy Guru videos detailing how to do that for some of the most popular email providers.
Update any online accounts – If you use your o2.co.uk email address as your username/login for any online accounts, you'll need to update them with a new email address (you may already have one or need to create one with another email provider). You will need to do this before Friday 1 November.
You won't have access to o2.co.uk emails after 1 November. However, if you access other email accounts on your device, these won't be affected.
From 1st November 2013, only Broadband customers will continue to have access to O2 email accounts as part of the sale to Sky. However, we will be closing the O2 Email to Mobile and O2 Broadband Calendar services.
