HD Voice explained

You might have started noticing a big difference in the quality of voice calls to other O2 numbers. This is HD Voice.

HD (High Definition) Voice is a free service that gives you crystal clear voice calls, making it easier to hear or be heard on your mobile. It filters out background noise too, so if you're stood in a busy street or at the train station, the person you're calling will be able to hear you loud and clear. And the best part is you won't be charged any differently for an HD Voice call.

What you need

  • A compatible phone
  • The latest software available for your phone
  • 3G coverage
  • Both you and the person you're speaking to need to be on O2

Both you and the person you’re speaking to need to be in a 3G area, to be able to make HD Voice calls. Sometimes during a call you might notice a change in the audio quality, this will be if one of you has lost your 3G signal.

Activating HD Voice

As long as you meet the requirements above, you don’t need to do anything to activate HD Voice, and you may already be noticing a big difference in the quality of your voice calls.
