Here are a few points on how to make the chat room a fun and safe environment, and keep it that way.
Careful: people on the other end of the mobile phone may not be who they say they are.
Hang on to your personal information. Never give out your email or home address, phone number, or say where you go to school or work.
Arranging to meet is dangerous. Our view is that you should never arrange to meet people using Txt Chat.
Tell the moderator or a friend/adult if you come across something that makes you feel uncomfortable.
Do not pretend to be someone you are not. It is against the rules to lie about your age plus if you are found to have done so you will be suspended from the service. In addition, we reserve the right to report persons who are found to have given false information to the relevant authorities.
Do not behave in an inappropriate manner. Sexual, defamatory and racist messages are forbidden. Treat the moderators nicely. They are not machines but real people with feelings, and they are here to help you.
Show respect to other chatterers. As a rule, approach others nicely and do not be persistent if they are not interested in chatting with you. Simply treat others in the same way you like to be treated.
If someone does not take "no" for an answer, you can always ban them from texting you (send STOP + the nickname you want to ban, for example, STOP BUFFY).
If you have any doubts about someone or feel uncomfortable about something, get in touch with your moderator. They will help. And last but not least: have fun.
