Here on Text Chat Room, we value our younger users and so, we take fun and safety very seriously.
Here are a few points on what we do and what we suggest you could do, as a parent, to keep the chat room a friendly and safe environment.
We strongly believe in educating our young users. We send them safety tips as soon as they register so that they can start chatting in a safe manner.
Young users have their own 'adult-free' chat rooms, in which it is forbidden to make personal details public. Those rooms have fun names and topics.
The chat rooms offer human moderation. The moderators keep a friendly and yet strict eye on the messages. They are trained to deal with complaints and safety issues and are always available for help.
Both you and your child are in total control. Remember that a user is always anonymous which means that phone numbers cannot be disclosed. As a user, you can always stop other chatters from texting you. And as a parent, you can de-register your child at any time, just send a text to the moderator for details.
Chat rooms are fun, and a great opportunity to make new friends, but it doesn't harm to make young users aware of rare but possible danger.
Younger users should be reminded to hang on to their personal details. Explaining the reason why, rather than forbidding them, usually works better.
They should be encouraged to share their chat room experience. It is a good opportunity to have a fun exchange with them as well as creating a trusting relationship. It is also important for them to have someone to turnto for advice.
Being given responsibility is something young users value. They will be more likely to take their own safety seriously if they feel responsible for it.
