End User Questions
How do I get it working on my device?
To begin, IT must have the Good server software installed. At this point, they can enable users on the Good server and provision devices. This generates an email which will walk the user through the process of OTA (over the air) provisioning of the device.
Does all my data synchronise over the air?
Yes. Good™ Mobile Messaging will wirelessly synchronise all of your Outlook and Lotus Notes information - Notes, Tasks, Contacts, Calendar & email. No cradles are needed.
Can I have Good on a Blackberry device?
No. Blackberry is a closed, proprietary system which does not allow for 3rd party applications.

How do I turn the phone off and go into PDA mode?
There is no need to turn off the phone in order to check email, calendar or other tasks.
You can choose to go to the "work offline" mode, which will disable the radio.
When I'm overseas, why do I see a white triangle at the top of the screen?
The triangle symbol means that you are roaming abroad.
Can I receive phone calls or text messages while using the Internet or synchronising email?
Yes. However, many phones do terminate the data session when a call is in process.
Can I view PDFs?
Yes, providing your device has a PDF Reader which you can obtain post installation. Good leverages the attachment reader on the device.
How can I best navigate web content?
There is a native browser on the device. For corporate content and secure public internet access, your company may choose to utilise an additional piece of software called Good™ Mobile Intranet - further details of which are available from your O2 Account Manager.

How do I remove the signature from the bottom of each Good™ Mobile Messaging email?
On the device, go into the 'Menu' function then; 'Options'; then 'email options' then uncheck the 'append signature' box. You may also customise your signature here.
Can I just swap my sim card from one device to another or will Good stop working?
You can swap SIM cards, however you will need to contact your IT helpdesk to re-provision Good on the new device, a Good install is tied to the SIM.

Who already uses Good?
Motorola Good Technology Group has 12,000 enterprise customers in over 90 countries.
What is the main differences between Good and Blackberry?
Blackberry is a closed proprietary wireless email system whereas Good™ Mobile Solutions is open standards, running on open operating systems.
It is also available on selected Microsoft Windows devices.

Will it work on any Microsoft O2 device?
Good™ Mobile Solutions is optimised to work on specific devices. Good™ Mobile Solutions is currently supported on the following O2 devices:
- O2 XDA Trion
- Palm Treo 750

What encryption does GMM use?

What types of IT policies can I set up?
With Good™ Mobile Solutions, IT control of a wide range of policies covering security policies, software distribution and upgrade policies, and general administrative policies. Examples include:
- Security policies
- Remotely control handheld password policies
- Specify whether device components can be used (e.g. Bluetooth, IT, SD cards, cameras, etc)
- Define mandatory applications which must be present on the device before email can be used
- Set rules for remote locking or erasing the device (e.g. after "X" password attempts, or after it has been inactive for "X" days)
- Set encryption rules for data on the device
- Software policies
- Define which applications are over-the-air deployed to the device
- Perform forced upgrades of software to specified versions
- General / administrative policies
- Enable /disable access to Global Address List (GAL)
- Enable access to public folders
- Enable contact beaming
- Define attachment downloading rules
- And much more
Policies can be set up at different levels of granularity, from a single user, to a group of users, to an entire enterprise.
Can I deploy it remotely?
Yes. In addition to deploying Good via an SD card, Good can be pushed out to any user anywhere in the world using OTA (over-the-air) deployment capabilities. OTA can also be used to deploy any future upgrades of the Good product, and even to deploy other 3rd party software applications from other vendors.
Can I protect information on SD cards?
Yes. Good has an added security and device management layer. IT can select by end user, department or at the group level to ensure that all of the corporate information on the SD card (apart from cab files) is protected. In addition, I.T. can even lock down Bluetooth, public WiFi access, lock down the camera/video function and create secure internet access and/or a walled garden approach to public internet access.
What do I do if one of my employees loses their device?
There are many options.
Good™ Mobile Solutions gives the ability to do any one of the following to ensure that unauthorised use is prohibited:
- Immediately and remotely wipe the device
- Immediately and remotely lock the device
- Set policies to ensure unauthorized use, such as: Lock or remotely erase the device if inactive for a set amount of time, or after "X" password attempts.
- Once the authorised user has once again obtained a device then I.T. can remotely enable the user to start using their Good messaging account.
What are the recommended Exchange Versions for Good™ Mobile Messaging host and Exchange mailbox servers?
Microsoft Exchange 2003 & above.
Will I get training for my helpdesk?
Yes. When purchasing Good™ Mobile Solutions Server software from O2 you will be entitled to send one person to attend an IT Helpdesk Training Course on O2 premises. No charge will be made for this training.
What about when my users are roaming - will it work in the same way as in the UK?
Yes. From the end user's perspective they will be able to utilise their Good email account in exactly the same way. Please ensure though before leaving the UK that you have an appropriate O2 data plan and that you are authorised as a roaming data user. Please contact your care representative for further information if required.
