Access emails, reports, orders or job details using your mobile phone as simple as if you were sitting at your desk.

GPRS makes accessing emails, reports, orders or job details using your mobile phone as simple as if you were sitting at your desk. If you're looking for improved mobile performance or to explore new, cost-effective mobile solutions, GPRS (General Packet Radio Service) could soon be working for your business.

O2's pioneering new data network delivers a wide range of features and benefits:

  • “Always connected" service means once you've logged on, you can remain connected to your data network for the working day
  • Outstanding cost-efficiency as you're charged on how much you send, not the duration of calls
  • The GPRS service enables employees to send and receive emails, input orders, download reports, access databases, browse the web and enhance WAP services usage
  • Enjoy fast, reliable and secure access to your corporate data network
  • Ease of use with GPRS allowing existing applications to be used by mobile workers with a similar look and feel as on the desktop PC. No retraining.

GPRS offers a wide range of e-commerce, e-business applications and email solutions to employees who are mobile phone Users. You can become more responsive to customer needs using GPRS applications such as job scheduling for field service engineers, vehicle tracking, parcels despatch and delivery. In addition, GPRS "always online" solutions can benefit specific market groups such as financial services, banking, leisure and travel by offering swifter access to consumer-based sales and information services.

GPRS works by sending data in "packets". This allows you to stay connected all day without incurring extra charges, and you save time as there's no need to repeatedly dial in whenever you need to check your mailbox.

It also offers data speeds up to four times faster than conventional GSM data. What's more, these speeds will increase further as new data terminals are introduced. This service works with GPRS-compatible phones. A wide range of GPRS mobile phones, PDAs and radio cards for the PCMCIA slot on laptop PCs is now available.

Data Links

  • Enjoy significant savings on calls to company mobiles with O2.
  • You can connect to our DataLinks service by using Private Wire Access or Cellular Exchange.

Private Wire Access

  • Private Wire Access creates a direct link between your telecommunications network and the O2 network. Generally appropriate for larger companies, it allows you to make major savings on calls between your company’s mobile and fixed line phones by bypassing the usual connections. Private Wire Access also gives you the opportunity to take advantage of GPRS and WLAN solutions.
  • You can set up Private Wire Access by leasing a line to your company site for an annual fee. Choose from the following tariffs:
    • Link 30. Manages up to 30 lines of voice traffic.
    • O2 Virtual Link for voice traffic gives you the benefit of fixed links without the cost and complexity of implementation.
    • GPRS DataLink and Resilient Data Link. Offers you four different speeds for data-only traffic. We can also provide SNMP access to your routers for IT management and support.
    • Self-provided. You supply the link and pay only to connect to our network.

GPRS is available on most Pay Monthly voice tariffs, and it can be used on its own without a voice tariff.
