Mobile extension

Designed for large organisations with 80+ handsets, Mobile Extension (Mobex) combines fixed and mobile phones under a single numbering plan to allow easy, cost-effective dialling of mobile phones.

Designed for large organisations with 80+ handsets, Mobile Extension (Mobex) combines fixed and mobile phones under a single numbering plan to allow easy, cost-effective dialling of mobile phones. It gives you the convenience of short code dialling and reduces the cost of all calls made between the company's office and mobile phones.

How does it work?

Company mobile phones become extensions to the main office telephone system through a direct link between your company's fixed voice network and our network. Internal calls can then be made to any mobile extension just as they would be to a fixed extension, wherever the mobile User is.

An experienced O2 Customer Project Manager will work with you on site to ensure the implementation of mobile extension will happen efficiently and without a hitch. This includes communicating the change to your Users and the production of Mobex User guides specifically tailored to your company needs.

Benefits

Lower cost communication:

  • A low monthly subscription, so that you only pay for what you use
  • Significant savings on calls from your office fixed-line phones to your mobile phones and vice versa, as well as calls between your mobile phones. This includes mobile phone calls to up to 250 sites in your company that are not connected via the direct link
  • Mobile phone calls to ten of your external Customers and Suppliers are also charged at the same discounted rate as calls within your company
  • Calls from sites not incorporated in the company network can be connected using O2 Virtual Link
  • Different call barring rules can be set up for separate sets of mobile phones within your company, therefore enabling further controls on costs
  • Call tagging allows you to manage the split between business and personal calls
  • With O2 Business Zones, you can save up to 46 percent on calls to your chosen STD codes

Ease of contacting your mobile team

  • Simple dialling: your mobile phones have extension numbers giving you improved contactability, so no more having to remember long mobile numbers
  • Easy to divert and transfer calls between mobile phones and fixed phones
  • Conference call facilities: hold an ad hoc conversation with five other people

Designed for large organisations with 80+ handsets, Mobile Extension combines fixed and mobile phones under a single numbering plan to allow easy, cost-effective dialling of mobile phones. It gives you the convenience of short code dialling and reduces the cost of all calls made between the company's office and mobile phones. Through the use of bespoke dial rules for mobile phones or groups of mobile phones, companies have full control over the use and therefore the cost of their mobile phones.

Prices

The following table details O2’s standard published charges for the Mobile Extension 2001 tariff.  Mobile Extension prices are tailored to meet the specific requirements of your company. For more details please contact your O2 account manager or use the following link:

Mobile Extension requires the utilisation of a link between your company’s telephone system and the O2 network, either via a direct fixed link or a virtual link.  Such products are available from O2 and additional terms and conditions and charges will apply.

Wherever possible customers will be put on the Mobile Extension tariff at implementation stage, however there could be circumstances when customers are put on a temporary tariff during the installation of any direct or virtual link, in these instances the preferential ‘on-net’ rates may not be available and will be charged in accordance with the O2 Business First Plus Tariff. All other call charges will apply.

Non networked customer sites

Mobile Extension uses a direct fixed link between your telephone system and the O2 network and offers preferential call rates to and from fixed extensions and mobiles (‘on-net’ call rates). In addition customer sites that are not linked in to O2 can also benefit from mobile originated on net call rates through up to 250 company DDI ranges of up to 1000 numbers being incorporated in to the dial plan, 10 of these ranges can be the customer’s own customers and suppliers. Calls originating from non networked fixed extensions are at the preferential rate if the site is incorporated into the dial plan using O2 Virtual Link.
