O2 are exhibiting at BETT in January 2009
When the Government committed to providing "connected learning" to schools, we were already ahead of the game thanks to our mobile solutions. Which means we’re already in a position to help you meet any new targets for Information Communication Technology (ICT) in the education sector.
With O2 Data Cards, the latest O2 Xda devices and the new improved HSDPA O2 Network, students can have instant access to a world of information. Through a virtual online learning platform, they can also work where they want, how they want. Students can now have 24-hour access to the school’s email, online areas for sharing work and documents, discussion forums, RSS feeds, personal sites with bespoke forms for tests and document management. Constant communication and instant feedback between teachers and pupils is also now possible.
Studies recently carried out by BECTA showed that IT-literate students and teachers deliver better student outcomes. Having ‘anytime’ access to ICT:
Students can now work, communicate and source information in a controlled and safe environment. At O2 we can offer the highest level of security features. From having Xda SIM cards locked to prevent voice or SMS usage, to secure internet access through a Virtual Private Network (VPN). This enables schools and educational authorities to control what students view and access online. This includes anti-virus, spam filtering and inappropriate word usage scanning.
We’ve teamed up with Childnet International, experts in child internet safety, to set up services unique to O2. To find out more, please visit o2.co.uk/childprotection.
O2 offer training to both LEAs and schools, so everyone can understand how to use online learning tools, O2 Data Cards and the Xda devices. We also offer O2 Professional Services.
