Tell me more about my usage limit

Some of our broadband packages that are designed for lighter web use have a usage limit on them.

Once you reach your usage limit on The Basics package, your speed will be slower for the rest of the billing month. Don't worry, it will go back to normal once the next billing month starts. If you're on our Access package (15th July 2010 or later) and you go over the usage limit, we may well get in touch to talk how to reduce your usage levels.

If you tend to use more than 20GB per month (about 40 half hour iPlayer episodes or 10,000 photo uploads) then these packages are not the best option. You might be better off with a package that lets you download as much as you like (subject to fair use).

If you have a usage limit, find out what it is in the 'My broadband' section on the O2 web site or by reading our Fair Usage Policy on our website. There's a usage counter there (the type of usage counter depends on the package you're on, and there isn't one for our Access package). But it only updates at certain points within the month. If you want to keep a closer eye on it use an independent broadband usage tool. There are lots available to download for free and it will show you how much you're downloading more frequently. Try searching for 'broadband usage counter'. DU Meter is an easy and simple usage tool.
